Who We Are

Our Vision Seeking God’s Heart, Sharing God’s Love is a summary of who we are and what we believe.

Jesus himself affirmed this vision in Matthew 22:36-40 when he stated that the two greatest commandments in scripture are to “love God with all our heart, soul and mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves.”

We believe God has called us to be a reflection of Jesus by Seeking God’s Heart and Sharing God’s Love.  We will love God and others by……

       …..Worshipping God with our lives

…..Connecting people and creating a place to belong and build each other up

…..Growing to be more like Jesus

…..Serving each other, our community and beyond

…..Sharing the good news of Jesus

We realize this vision can only be fulfilled when we prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.  Ephesians 4:12

 Short History

Calvin Church was born in 1957 as one of the first churches on the north side of Holland.  We originally became established for Christians who lived on the north side of Holland to gather and worship together. However, in the year 2000 God led us through a two and half year vision discernment process to become the church God intends for us to be to the world. It was during that time that God revealed our vision, mission, and purpose.  We continue to discern how we are to live into our vision within today’s culture. The past has been written but the future is still to be revealed.  As the culture around us changes we must determine how to seek God’s heart & share God’s love the most effective way possible. We are not perfect and we don’t expect you to be either, but we continue to grow in each of these areas. Our desire is to be a strong, healthy church that makes a difference in our community.

Calvin Church is a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church and more information can be found at the denominations website: https://www.crcna.org/welcome/beliefs
